Quarter Sheets Pizza Review, Los Angeles

Los Angeles is known for its diverse food scene. But I’ve learned that there are a lot of varied opinions about the best pizza spots in LA! So when I heard whispers about Quarter Sheets Pizza, I was excited to give it a try. Spoiler alert: I was happy food dancing.
I’ve visited Quarter Sheets twice. Once in a larger group of girlfriends, then recently for a date night. So I’ve now had a chance to try a lot of the menu.
From the first bite of their perfectly crisp Detroit-style deep dish crust to the last, every slice was really flavorful. Whether you’re a classic tomato sauce pizza fan or an adventurous eater, there are slices for- both styles.
In this Quarter Sheets Pizza review post, I’ll take you through my delicious experiences including what we ordered, what to expect and how to score a reservation to avoid the long lines.
What’s the Hype?
Quarter Sheets Pizza has quickly become a sensation in Los Angeles. Quarter Sheets Pizza has been named a Best Restaurant by the LA Times and New York Times in 2023. And if you’ve driven through Sunset Blvd in Echo Park, you’ve likely seen the long lines waiting for a table or ordering takeout.
Husband-and-wife duo Aaron Lindell and Hannah Ziskinhey wanted to bring the lesser-known Detroit-style pizza to the forefront of LA’s vibrant food scene. What started as a small pop-up quickly earned them a loyal following during the pandemic, thanks to their creative slices, high-quality ingredients, and absolutely perfect dough.
Reservations
Not only is Quarter Sheets a popular spot in LA, but the dining room is relatively small. Which means reservations can be tough to come across and they fill up quickly! The first time I visited with some friends, reservations weren’t accepted. So we got there early and waited a little under an hour to be seated.
But they have recently started taking some limited reservations in 2024! If you’re lucky enough to grab one, it’s a much easier way to experience it and avoid the wait.
Reservations open up at 9am on Resy two weeks in advance of a given date. I’ve looked a few times and wasn’t able to find an opening, so I used the “waitlist” feature to get an alert when things opened up. And that’s how we snagged our Wednesday reso. If they don’t have the date you’re looking for, sign up for an alert from Resy and see what happens!
Quarter Sheets does still accept some walk-ins, so that’s always an option too. Or you can order pizza for takeout and enjoy it at one of their high top tables outside.
Restaurant Vibe
The restaurant is relatively small, but very cozy! It gives an old school pizza parlor vibe in some of the decor, but with a modern and industrial twist. It has a laid-back vibe, but buzzing with lots of energy.
Quarter Sheets Pizza Menu
At Quarter Sheets Pizza the menu is where the magic truly happens. Aaron and Hannah did an amazing job creating a selection that’s both innovative and comforting. The menu does change frequently with several seasonal and rotating flavors.
There are a few staples that seem to stay on the menu like the Red Top and the Little Gem Salad. But trust me, you’re in for a treat no matter what they’re featuring!
This was the menu for our July 2024 visit:
Starters
Before you dive into the main event, start with the Little Gem Salad!
This salad looks very simple, and might even appear to be boring (dare I say it). But it was packed full of flavor and was one of our favorite dishes both times. The herbs like fresh basil and chives were vibrant. The lettuce was super crisp, and we ate every last bite.
We also had the meatballs with red sauce and aged provolone. Absolutely delicious!
The Pizza
Now, let’s talk about the real stars of the show: the pizza. Each one is a work of flavorful art, baked to perfection with a crispy, caramelized cheese crust and a soft, airy interior.
You can order full pizzas or slices. For our date night, we ordered three slices between the two of us and it was the perfect amount and variety.
- The Red Top: A classic choice. Mozzarella, red sauce, grana and basil. (Upper left in photo)
- Bianca: My husband’s favorite, this pizza combines a garlic cream sauce with sausage, mozzarella, sungold tomatoes and Fresno chiles. (Lower left in photo)
- Sicilian Corner: My personal favorite! The sesame crust was a unique twist and not something I expected on pizza. But delicious! The pesto was divine. All around win. (Upper right in photo)
- Pepperoni: Another classic choice, that was delicious!
- Lemon: I don’t remember the name of this one, and I had it a while back. But I remember that it had lemon and some sort of white sauce. So unique! So delicious! It was a fan favorite in our group. So if you see this one, definitely order it!
Desserts
Save room for dessert because Hannah’s pastry skills shine here. Quarter Sheets is known for their cakes, particularly the Princess Cake with layers of olive oil chiffon, mascarpone chantilly, raspberry preserves and almond marzipan.
